Section 202: Establishment and composition of Public Service Commission
Constitution of Zimbabwe
(1) There is a Public Service Commission consisting ofโ
(a) a chairperson and deputy chairperson; and
(b) a minimum of two and a maximum of five other members; appointed by the President.
[Subsection amended by s. 25 of Act No. 2 of 2021]
(2) Members of the Public Service Commission must be chosen for their knowledge of or experience in administration, management or the provision of public services.
[Subsection amended by s. 25 of Act No. 2 of 2021]
Insight: Public Service Commission Structure
This section establishes a presidential-appointed body with a small, specialized leadership structure (between 4-7 members total). The requirement for members to have relevant expertise in administration or public service suggests the commission serves as a professional oversight body for Zimbabwe's civil service, rather than a political entity. The 2021 amendment may have adjusted the membership requirements to ensure proper governance of public service delivery.
