Section 25: Protection of the family
Constitution of Zimbabwe
The State and all institutions and agencies of government at every level must protect and foster the institution of the family and in particular must endeavour, within the limits of the resources available to them, to adopt measures forโ
(a) the provision of care and assistance to mothers, fathers and other family members who
have charge of children; and
(b) the prevention of domestic violence.
Insight on Protection of the Family
This section establishes family welfare as a constitutional priority, recognizing that strong families create a strong society. It acknowledges resource limitations while still mandating government action on family support and domestic violence prevention. This balanced approach reflects both aspirational goals and practical constraints in governance.
