Section 253: Reports of National Peace and Reconciliation Commission

In addition to the report it is required to submit in terms of section 323, the National Peace and Reconciliation Commission may, through the appropriate Minister, submit reports to Parliament on particular matters relating to national peace and reconciliation which, in the Commission’s opinion, should be brought to the attention of Parliament.

This provision empowers the Commission to be proactive in addressing peace and reconciliation issues by allowing it to submit special reports beyond its regular mandatory reporting. This discretionary reporting mechanism enables timely parliamentary attention to emerging concerns without waiting for annual reports, potentially facilitating faster responses to situations that could threaten national harmony.
